About three weeks ago I was commissioned to photograph a great Kent band called Foreboding Ether who play some incredible death metal.

We all met up in Dungeness as I thought the barren land would work perfectly with their heavy style. The plan was to utilise a location which boasted a set of large acoustic mirrors for one series of photos and then move to the wasteland for another series of photos . The intention was there, and when we got to the acoustic mirrors they looked great, however there was a large river preventing us from getting to them… so we scrapped that idea.

Moving on to the wasteland I wanted to approach the photos with a very washed out, post-apocalyptic aesthetic so opted to shoot the images naturally. This worked perfectly and as we shot at midday there were some very harsh highlights and dark shadows which added wonderfully to the style.

As we were unable to utilise the acoustic mirrors I still wanted to maximise what we could achive so I made a few calls and arranged a location in which we could shoot some dark heavy studio photos.

All in all I had a great day working with these guys and urge you all to check out their music.

[...] recently had the pleasure of working with Seven Year Kismet which was a direct referral from the shoot I did with Foreboding Ether a month or so ago. Both bands are great friends and I guess Seven Year [...]

Well posed images, nicely shot. The bleached out effect works well.
